Kind of good/great news not!March 24th 2016 part of UK Ace (re-issue/retro label) Records' 40th Anniversary500 X 7" copies of YY c/w GTM have had their first UK release!Using a standard 1960's silver on blue Philips Riverside labels Small hole and in a plain white die cut sleeve.BGPS 050 (Battle 45917)Record pressed for Ace UK by Optimal Germany Tracks licensed from Concord Music / UMG1. Both tracks are presented in both pointless and vile MONO (why? BOTH tracks were mixed and cut in Stereo for their release on the USA STEREO 1963 Battle LP, Both the 1963 Single and LP were available in Mono so why repeat the now pointless process>>>>> give the collector something new for the Hi-Fi, note that GTM has a very odd and slight reverb EQ that has a narrow stereo image.2. As per what seems to be the norm at Optimal Germany the cutting engineer does not like to use the full available groove width (GPI Grooves per Inch) so the pressing (like the Beatles Love Me Do) looks like a 1954 UK Decca and EMI 7" with a tight needless spiral.3. The labels have not been + centered then die cut true, so the print is not even 95% true to the spindle hole!The B side label for GTM has the title text running right through the edge of a 1 1/2" Large Hole or Dinked centre die cut area!This is to facilitate the VILE and CRAZY bar code that Ace have thought must be a massive and all so vital selling feature that must be so placed at 6 O' Clock why?To have made this Ace retro release ACE the foillowing IMHO should have taken place bearing in mind UMG and it's dealings vinyl wise with Optimal (esp since the Beatles Magical Mystery Tour Mono Digital EP finish and look)....1. Both tracks should have been sourced from the STEREO LP master tapes2. The Cutting engineer should have mastered and cut the spiral to todays standards and use the full playing space available3. The labels should have had STEREO and 00 on both labels in the bottom rh box as per the original UK Riverside Philip's 45s that had the mono upside down triangle (representing a stylus) in those designated boxes, not wrongly list the USA Battle original as just # 45917 there was and is a prefix of BF and a hyphen -. 4. Neither label should have had a vile pointless BAR CODE printed on them as some super selling featurean easy peel label on the sleeve should have sufficed.5 The record should have come in either a USA retro 1960's Riverside Company Sleeve OR a UK 1960's Blue print on white paper Philips Company sleeve. (Note that UMG bought out Polygram which was Philips and DDG/Polydor joining together, so UMG own the brand/labels/product etc etc so no issue or conflict of logos)6 As Optimal now have a 4pin round centre Dinker which UMG comissoned them to source for their ex UK EMI $tateside's Tamla Motown's fourthcoming Beatles £ Parlophone singles, Optimal should also source a 3pin round centre Dinker and also a Tri Centre Dinker for other contracted retro releases! This single should have had a 3pin round Dinked OC optional centre. NOT an un Dinked small hole.6 great selling points and stupidly NOT looked into by ACE celebrating 40 years of not always getting it as right as they could and should.Note to those that want mono there are USA Battle 7" mono copies of this about! OR just click the mono button on your amps, the effect is there or indeed buy this Limited Edition UK single!
